The first match of the 2022 Malaysian Super League season will be Selangor FC playing against KL City FC, today, March 4 at 9pm.

This match will also be Michael Feichtenbeiner's first official competitive match as the head coach of the Selangor FC first team this season, as announced last December.

Michael cannot wait to start the league this season, "As always, there is some pressure and big expectations from the fans as well as from the management. I'm very excited to start my challenge with Selangor FC this season as the head coach,"

"I am the type of head coach that focuses more on the present and considering this is the first match, I want it to be a successful match and expect three points from my boys despite knowing the opponent's strength. I am convinced with my players!"

"We have tried a lot of things during preseason and it was important to get the new players to gel and adapt to our system. Of course there were some areas that we should improve but a lot of great things happened during the preseason. Overall, I'm happy with our preseason,"

"KL City showed a good performance against JDT in the second half of Sumbangsih 2022, so I expect them to play great like that against us today and we are prepared for the challenge!"

In terms of the availability of players for the first match today, the Selangor FC team will not be expecting the services of Halim Saari and R. Dinesh, as they are still in the recovery phase from their anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Besides that, Zikri Khalili, the team’s young defender was also just in his first week of treating a lateral meniscus tear. 

Apart from them, Shahrel Fikri is suffering from muscle problems. However, he will return to the team in the near future.

However, Selangor supporters have the opportunity to see the debut of the first Super League of Samuel Somerville, Yazan Al-arab, Baha 'Abdelrahman, Zahril Zabri, Fazly Mazlan, Herlison Caion and Hyuri Henrique in the Selangor FC jersey tomorrow.
